So a reboot of the Fantastic Four has been in the works now that enough time has passed to forget about the original two movies that were horrible. So far the only info that has really been released is that Josh Trank (Chronicle) is set to direct and wanted or casted Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, The Human Torch.
Last night the full cast was released and, well, I really am not sold on this at all. Jordan should be perfect for the Human Torch; he can be loud, obnoxious, cocky, and fun, so I’m not worried about that. I think Miles Teller could have potential for a young Reed Richards because I think he resembles the part look-wise enough. I loved him in The Spectacular Now, and he just recently worked with Jordan on The Awkard Moment, so I think there is potential.
My biggest problems are with Kate Mara as Sue Storm, The Invisible Woman, because I just don’t feel like she fits the part. I’m sure she will be okay, at least, but I’m going to need to see some pictures or a trailer before I can fully buy into it. The same goes for Jamie Bell being cast as Ben Grimm, The Thing. I enjoy him as an actor, but he just seems to wiry and not right for the role of big beefy macho Ben Grimm.
These are just my first impressions, of course I’ll wait until more info is released to make a full judgement call on the film, but right now Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot is looking…interesting… to say the least.
