You will not be the same person after watching this movie. I have never seen a movie like Enter The Void in my life and I don’t know if there will ever be another movie that accomplishes as much as this one. If the photo above doesn’t give it away the movie is a phantasmagoria of color. Its sexual, violent, artistic, beautiful, disgusting, funny, heartbreaking, and thought-provoking. Enter The Void is one of those movies where you have the unsettling feeling of needing to call your mother and make sure everything is okay. You are going to be uncomfortable. You are going to feel sadness, it is inevitable but it is necessary.
I may have been exaggerating when I said there is no other movie like Void, it reminds me a lot of Requiem For A Dream. If you’ve seen Requiem than Void will come to you as the next step in filmmaking.
Enter The Void is a movie I would recommend to anyone serious about contemporary culture, art, and cinema. Watch it alone. Start it at 4 a.m. in the morning in a dark room and let yourself be taken away. I’m pleasantly surprised that Netflix allows us to stream a movie like this, so I encourage you to take advantage. Even if you’re not as pretentious as I am and don’t want to spend you’re time idealizing entertainment as ART, watch Enter The Void because it is an experience.
