Here is the 2 and a half minute “teaser” trailer for the new Transformers: Age of Extinction movie. I’m not sure why it’s labeled as a teaser, but whatever.
So basically Mark Wahlberg strips down old trucks for scrap metal pieces and he stumbles upon a dormant Optimus Prime. The world apparently got tired of the Transformers creating damage equivalent to that of Metropolis in Man of Steel and “the age of the Transformers is over.” However, of course, when a fleet of (presumably)Decepticons shows up to Earth, the Transformers return to save the humans that so quickly disregarded their importance.
The trailer didn’t really wow me, and I feel like it plays directly off the status of these films; nobody cares about Transformers anymore, but wait, they’re back to show that Michael Bay hasn’t completely destroyed the series yet…
On the positive side…
– I like that there is more of a father/daughter dynamic rather than trying to build up another love story.
– Stanley Tucci had one quick clip in there that shows him in the middle of all the action yelling for his life. I think he could be a funny supporting character, like John Turturro but hopefully not as overkill.
– Not gonna lie, watching the clip of Optimus vs. the Dinobot looks pretty sweet.
