Some awesome news released a couple hours ago that the big hit PlayStation video game, The Last of Us, is officially going to be turned into a film!
For those who have no idea what this is about, here’s the quick description provided:
Hardened survivor Joel teams with young and capable companion Ellie to journey through a radically transformed world some 20 years after an infectious pandemic ravages humanity. The game has won numerous awards and has been a big seller since its release last summer.
Personally, I haven’t gotten to play the game yet, but have been dying to because I haven’t stopped hearing how amazing it is. The studio that created The Last of Us, Naughty Dog, will be heavily involved it seems, which is great. The game’s creative director, Neil Druckmann, is going to pen the script while the movie’s creative architects will be co-presidents Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra, as well as the game director, Bruce Straley, and once again Druckmann. The team is going to work with Ghost House Pictures (Sam Raimi) to get the process moving and hopefully turn one of the most amazing recent stories into an awesome motion picture.
I think this is amazing to hear. I’ve read and heard from friends about how rich the game’s storytelling aspect is and that alone carries the entire game. It sounds perfect to convert into a movie and I hope we get to hear more soon!
