The first trailer for God’s Pocket came out today, and I really don’t know much about this aside from the late, great, Philip Seymour Hoffman starring in it. So God’s Pocket stars PSH, Christina Hendricks, John Turturro and Richard Jenkins, which is an awesome cast and immediately has me interested. The movie is based on a novel and is surprisingly directed by Mad Men star, John Slattery. The plot is simply that Mickey (PSH) “gets in over his head trying to cover-up the accidental death of his stepson.”
The trailer makes the movie look like a fun drama that reminded me of American Hustle in that it focuses on these sort of, middle-man gangsters who think they can handle mob type stuff, a.k.a. covering up deaths, and actually can’t. It’s sad that this will be the beginning of the end for Philip Seymour Hoffman’s appearance in film; however, I definitely am interested in God’s Pocket and liked what I saw out of this first trailer.
